5th Year

Welcome to 5^th Year! We are a year older and we have moved to the upper cycle: this means there are changes in many respects. For the next two years a lot will be expected of us, more responsibility, more work, more autonomy.

This year’s English will be more difficult than last year’s. Teachers and parents will help and guide, but children will have to become aware that it is they who are learning and that they will have to do it more and more independently. They will have to be able to identify the vocabulary and the grammar structures of each unit in order to study them, they will have to take responsibility of their homework (that should always be written down on the diary) and not expect others to tell them what to do. 

There will be plenty of chance to have fun while learning, though! Both in class and at home we will be doing interesting activities. Take special care of the Multi-Rom: this is a valuable tool that we have to learn to use to help us make our English better and better.

The blog will be here to give you a hand, but the learning takes place in class and at home, not in the blog!!

Benvinguts a 5è! Som un any més grans i hem arribat al cicle superior: això significa que hi ha canvis en molts sentits. Durant els propers dos anys s’esperarà molt de nosaltres, més responsabilitat, més feina, més autonomia.

L’anglès d’aquest any serà més difícil que el de l’any passat. Les mestres i les famílies ens ajudaran i guiaran, però els nois i noies hauran de ser conscients que són ells els que estan aprenent i que ho hauran de fer de manera més independent cada vegada. Hauran de ser capaços d’identificar el vocabulari i la gramàtica de cada unitat per poder-los estudiar, hauran de fer-se responsables dels seus deures, que apuntarem sempre a l’agenda, i no esperar que els altres els diguin què han de fer.

Tindrem moltes oportunitats per passar-nos-ho bé mentre aprenem! Tant a la classe com a casa farem activitats interessants. Tingueu bona cura del Multi-rom: és una eina valuosa que hem d’aprendre a utilitzar per millorar el nostre anglès.

El bloc estarà aquí per fer-vos un cop de mà, però aprenem anglès a classe i a casa, no al bloc!

2nd Year

Welcome to the first message of this academic year. We have started full of energy and willing to learn a lot in the months ahead. These first two weeks we have been working hard, concentrating both on procedures and content. This means that we are learning to learn at the same time as we are learning English.

Something you can do at home with your child is to ask him/her what has been going on in English class. They may tell you about a song, and a story. Encourage them to sing the song and to tell you the story, if possible, in English. You can play the CD (which you should keep at home in a safe place) to listen to the story “Josephine”. It is very important that your child is exposed to the English language as often as possible. As for the song, here’s a link for you:

If you get the chance to watch it with your kid, ask her what the differences are between this version and the one we sing in class.

Benvinguts al primer missatge d’aquest curs. Hem començat plens d’energia i amb ganes d’aprendre molt durant els propers mesos. Aquestes dues primeres setmanes hem treballat dur i ens hem concentrat tant en els procediments com en els continguts. Això vol dir que estem aprenent a aprendre alhora que aprenem anglès.

Una cosa que podeu fer a casa amb el vostre fill/a és preguntar-li què ha fet a classe d’anglès. Potser us dirà que ha après una cançó i un conte. Animeu-lo a que us la canti i us l’expliqui, si pot ser, en anglès. Podeu posar el CD (que hauríeu de guardar a casa en un lloc segur) per escoltar el conte “Josephine”. És molt important que el vostre fill senti l’anglès tan sovint com sigui possible. Pel que fa a la cançó, aquí teniu un enllaç:

Benvolgudes famílies:

Comença un nou curs amb molta il·lusió i molts projectes. Des del Departament d’Anglès del  col·legi volem fer-vos arribar unes informacions que creiem que poden ajudar-vos a fer costat als vostres fills en l’aprenentatge d’aquesta llengua.

1.       Mètode d’ensenyament

L’objectiu principal del nostre Departament és fer els vostres fills competents en l’ús de l’anglès a fi i efecte que es puguin comunicar eficaçment amb altres parlants d’aquesta llengua. D’aquesta manera, el col·legi opta per un mètode comunicatiu que respon a les necessitats socials reals actuals i que també compleix amb el currículum establert pel Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat. Per tant, la llengua de comunicació dins l’aula és l’anglès, que esdevé conegut i familiar i no estrany i amenaçador.

 

Com ja sabeu, a la classe d’anglès treballem les vuit competències bàsiques que preparen els vostres fills per reeixir en la vida, i ho fem adaptant-nos a les edats i el desenvolupament cognitiu, social i emocional del nostre alumnat a través de diverses activitats:

·         Preguntes i respostes en el context de classe i el personal

·         Presentacions i projectes

·         Representacions

·         Cançons

·         Contes / històries

·         Activitats d’estratègia d’adquisició de vocabulari i memorització en general

·         Jocs, etc .

A partir del cicle superior tots els alumnes acudeixen amb regularitat a l’aula d’informàtica per utilitzar les tecnologies d’informació i comunicació aplicades a l’aprenentatge de la llengua estrangera.

2.       Seguiment a casa

Cal fer un seguiment a casa per consolidar els coneixements adquirits a classe i per elevar la freqüència d’exposició a la llengua.

Les famílies poden col·laborar supervisant (no fent) els deures i  facilitant i motivant als seus fills a fer servir els següents recursos:

·         Internet

·         TV

·         Llibres

·         Contes orals a les biblioteques públiques

·         Viatges a l’estranger i descoberta de l’anglès a l’entorn local

·         Bloc d’anglès de l’escola

Els deures s’apunten sempre a l’agenda. En el cas dels alumnes de Cicle Inicial es donen instruccions més detallades al bloc d’anglès de l’escola.

3.       Eines de comunicació família-professorat d’anglès

L’eina principal de comunicació és l’agenda, on podeu consultar qualsevol tema que us preocupi.

També disposem del bloc d’anglès del col·legi on trobareu informacions diverses i respostes a moltes qüestions que segurament molts de vosaltres us plantegeu. Totes les novetats que afectin el Departament d’Anglès, les trobareu al nostre bloc. Us aconsellem que us en feu seguidors per estar al dia!

4.       Horaris i mestres

A cicle inicial l’alumnat fa una hora curricular d’anglès i una hora de taller. A primer les mestres són: Eva Perera i Meritxell Zaballos. A segon la mestra és l’Eva Perera.

A cicle mitjà hi ha dues hores curriculars a 3r i tres a 4t. La mestra és l’Eva Ortí.

A cicle superior hi ha tres hores curriculars. La mestra és l’Eva Perera.

Hello everybody!

It’s hard to believe that summer is here and we’re approaching the end of the academic year. It’s a time when you all should take stock of your work and see whether the outcome has been positive or negative.

During the summer break, SOME of you will have to go over the contents you haven’t acquired or you’ve had some difficulties with. Nevertheless, whether you’re packing your bags to take a trip or planning to spend the holiday months in town with the family, ALL of you should keep in touch with the English language if you don’t want your knowledge to get rusty. That’s why we encourage you to use the links in the column on the right hand side so as to practise English while having a great time.

Hola a tothom!

Costa de creure que l’estiu ja sigui aquí i que ens estiguem apropant a la fi del curs. Ara ha arribat el moment de valorar la feina feta i veure si el resultat ha estat positiu o negatiu.

Durant el descans estival, ALGUNS de vosaltres haureu de repassar els continguts que no heu assolit o amb els quals heu tingut algun tipus de dificultat. Malgrat tot, tant si feu les maletes per anar de viatge com si planegeu passar els mesos de vacances aquí amb la família, TOTS vosaltres hauríeu de mantenir-vos en contacte amb la llengua anglesa si no voleu que els vostres coneixements d’anglès es rovellin. És per això que us animem a utilitzar els enllaços de la columna de la dreta a fi que pugueu practicar l’anglès tot passant una bona estona.

2nd Year

Hello!

As you know on Wednesday next week we will be saying goodbye to this academic year with a big celebration, and all the Primary School students will go on stage to sing and dance. The children of Year 2 will sing about a hippo, so we've thought they could wear black and white clothes to look really cool up there. They can also bring along their hippo toys if they've got any. We'll take pictures to share with you!

Com ja sabeu, dimecres de la setmana entrant ens acomiadarem d'aquest any acadèmic amb una gran celebració, i tots els estudiants de primària pujaran a l'escenari a cantar i ballar. Els nens i nenes de 2n cantaran sobre un hipopòtam de manera que hem pensat que podrien posar-se roba blanca i negra per causar impressió a dalt de l'escenari. També poden portar els seus hipopòtams de joguina, si en tenen. Farem fotos per compartir-les amb vosaltres!

3rd Year

Hello again!

This week we’ve been introduced to the English alphabet. Our teacher has told us that all the letters in the alphabet are important because they are the building blocks of words; so, if we don’t learn them, it’ll be extremely hard for us to pronounce English terms and read properly. Here we have an exciting online game that can aid us to learn the alphabet in a fun way; all we need to do is to help the monkey in the game stay away from the snake. Great!

Hola de nou!

Aquesta setmana hem tingut el nostre primer contacte amb l’alfabet anglès. La mestra ens ha dit que totes les lletres de l’alfabet són importants perquè constitueixen les unitats bàsiques de les paraules; per tant, si no les aprenem, ens serà molt difícil pronunciar mots anglesos i llegir correctament. Aquí tenim un emocionant joc d’Internet que pot ajudar-nos a aprendre l’alfabet d’una manera divertida; tot el que cal fer és donar un cop de mà al mono del joc perquè pugui mantenir-se allunyat de la serp. Fenomenal!

1st Year

In the last two weeks, we’ve been working on our last story: “The Pet Shop”. We’ve already acted it out in class in groups of four (Georgina, Albert, Mr Martin and the messenger); some of the performances have been incredibly good, and although a few of us are not so skilful when it comes to act out stories, we must all keep on working hard at home, both listening to them on the CD and reading the corresponding texts as soon as we’ve got the booklets ready. The harder we work, both in class and at home, the more we’ll improve our performance in English.

Durant les darreres dues setmanes, hem estat treballant en la nostra última història: “The Pet Shop”. Ja l’hem representada a classe en grups de quatre (Georgina, Albert, Mr Martin i el missatger); algunes de les interpretacions han estat increïblement bones, i tot i que alguns/es de nosaltres no som tan hàbils quan es tracta de representar històries, tots/es hem de continuar treballant de valent a casa, tant escoltant aquestes historietes al CD com llegint els textos corresponents tan aviat com tinguem els llibrets a punt. I és que com més treballem, tant a classe com a casa, més millorarem el nostre rendiment en anglès.
